I react to Montoya reacting to BigFry on local talent creating a fake game to mimic what many think Star Atlas will be. I also react to NFT’s, MetaVerse, Crypto, and give you my views on the space as a whole. This is a very controversial topic and I like to put this stuff out there because you don’t hear it from anyone. This is the way.

Well said. Art is the perception and visions of what the artist portrays. You like it buy you don't look from a distance. I'll be buying drinks for all of you. Love you fam.

The metaverse is a stupid idea.
Game need to be games and not a market. Already games are ruined by companys.
Luckily from time to time someone does it right like elden ring.

I feel like what you said is exactly the point, its not that we don't see the potential (though i admit its hard with nfts) its that we don't see anything that would give us that trustworthy feel in the company that they can pull it off

The best way to know someone truly understands a concept is his ability to simplify it to a laymen's terms
The mere fact no one can give you a simple proper explanation as to how their nfts work and how will and can be used is a testimony to it

I don't even trust facebook to do it, but at least I know they have the resources and people to pull it off and thats more than can be said on 99% of these things

You are right, eventually someone will figure it out and it will be amazing, like many other things on life, but its also possible we are not there yet for various reasons, we have VR since at least the 80s, its hype phase was 10 years ago and we still aren't there but its getting there

The comments section is my moment to shine. I may not have any kids, a wife, or actually be funny; it could all be made up, for internet points! However, the scale of everything on that UE5 demo was definitely wrong, and made no sense. They shrunk the dude to make it all seem bigger, so we all go "wow, look at the size of that thing", just like porn.

With art, like NFTs, they are often used for wash trading. – Make painting, give partner money to buy the painting from you for an inflated amount, then work together to sell the painting for a higher price, repeat a couple of times, to bring up the price of the painting, while working together the whore time = profit once you decide to properly sell it. The same goes for crypto, except one can own multiple wallets, and cut out the partners. Buy monkey JPG using wallet B for inflated amount, then wallet B sells to wallet C, etc, before selling it legit, for profit. Then there's the whole money laundering thing, but that's another story lol.

15:35 THIS is why gamers aren't on board with the whole idea. Not about NFTs and the blockchain thing being bad, but most of us simply are against the idea of the online space being 100% monitised. We play games because we want to relax, not to make money..when I want to make money I'm at work. You could argue "but you could quit your job and make money full-time off of speculation and whatnot", but seriously, how many people can actually do that? Not many, at least not having comfortable lives on steady income. Gamers are in general against this because all we see is people talking about making money in games and online and exploiting things and trying to say "you'll love it, champ, why wouldn't you want to make money while gaming?", but the games themselves will become even more predatory then they are now, non-gamers flood any kind of game nowadays where you can make money off of and it doesn't help the experience, it makes things super grindy for the normal player and just not fun. That's the near future of where things would go if this happens without much regulation, ultra grindy games where you have to have an economics degree to actually get the items you want in game

I'm yet to be convinced it is the future, new things come out but that doesn't mean they will stand the test of time. For instance your example with blockbuster and Netflix, Netflix solved a problem; traveling to rent a movie, Crypto and NFTs introduce more problems than they solve. Crypto currency is so volatile no one can use it, and an NFT is just a encrypted link that offers no ownership to the original data which can even be replaced… and on top of all that people are getting scammed all the time with them. lastly they don't actually have anything to do with the "metaverse" (whatever that means) they are just being associated to paint this picture of a digital future. The fact that you don't own any Star atlas ships says it all really.

14:00 the average person can't become invested in every single new advancement of technology or society that comes along when those advancements are at their infancy. Yes, I agree NFTs and the technology behind it will be useful someday, maybe even necessary! But I don't think calling people insane for not wanting to put money into it is the right attitude, then again..a lot of the people against this are being rude about it, so I do understand you feeling attacked or at least emotional about it concerning your background. Anyways, I myself has the chance to get into Bitcoin when it started, but who was I to know crypto would explode the way it did? Same with the majority of people, and it goes with most technologies..I remember a time when people thought portable telephones were absurd, and now look at society lol.

NFTs in games for me is a big nope, as I see it anything that involves real world money with exclusive items can and will be farmed by 3rd world sweatshops, paying poor people pennies to farm them and selling them for hundreds/thousands to the gullible and deep pocketed whales, locking out any average person from being able to obtain them.

If real money is involved there will always be people trying to exploit it for their own gain, adding it to games takes that relaxation or escapism away from games and just makes them another form of work, as you can be sure anything of value will have an unreasonable amount of grind to obtain.

9:40 Star Citizen was backed because of trust in Chris Roberts' background, not because of hope or perceived potential value. That's why I don't think it's really equivalent to put SC in the same boat as people supporting Star Atlas or the level of hopium you need to trust in NFTs. Furthermore, Star Citizen has evolved to the point now where we know it's a solid project that's gaining progress, but Star Atlas doesn't even have a demo yet in years of supposed being in the making..SC even had a demo at the beginning, to put it into perspective. There's no need to have "hope" for Star Citizen, because it's literally being made and we can see what's happening; maybe a lot of backers need hope because they're not able to see the bigger picture of how gaming development works and are unable to put the pieces together that shows CIG is very much well on their way to delivering us what was promised, but at the end of the day whether people hope or don't hope, we're getting SC. No amount of hope is going to make the 90% of bogus NFT projects like Star Atlas be successful or have real value. And besides, things that have valuation for whatever reason doesn't make that thing "right" or "good"..the terrible impressionist and modernist art of the 80s to now IS trash, and is mostly used to launder money for criminals or for rich people to evade taxes. The item itself has no value for what it was made for, and we shouldn't give it any credit. I feel like doing so brings us closer to being those kind of scummy people that use NFTs and art for their nefarious purposes

BigFry's video on Star Citizen made me want to stick my head in a jar of bees, slam the jar against the wall to get the glass pierced through my skin, and then get an industrial sander and just remove what's left of my skin before sitting inside a compress machine and be crushed into oblivion
